Organic Liquid Fertilizer using Compost, Bananas, Tea Power

Here’s a recipe for an all-purpose organic liquid fertilizer using deoiled cakes, compost, bananas and tea powder. This mix provides a balanced nutrient boost for vegetable plants.

Ingredients

  1. Deoiled cakes: 200 grams (Neem, groundnut, or mustard cake)
  2. Compost( good quality): 1 cup
  3. Banana: 2–3 overripe bananas
  4. Tea powder: 2 tablespoons (used or fresh)
  5. Jaggery (optional): 1 tablespoon
  6. Water(preferred OWDC solution) : 5 liters

Instructions

  1. Prepare the tea: Boil 2 tablespoons of tea powder in 500 ml of water for 5–10 minutes. Let it cool, then add this tea to the rest of the water.
  2. Soak deoiled cakes: Add the deoiled cakes to the tea-infused water and let it sit for 2–3 days.
  3. Add bananas, compost, and jaggery: After 2–3 days, add the mashed bananas, compost, and jaggery to the mixture.
  4. Fermentation: Keep the mixture in a loosely covered container, stirring daily, and let it ferment for 7–10 days.
  5. Dilution: Strain the mixture and dilute 1 part liquid fertilizer with 10 parts water before using.

Application Tips

How to use: Use it as a soil drench around the base of plants or as a foliar spray for quick absorption.

This fertilizer provides a good balance of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium along with essential micronutrients. Avoid overuse, as it can be potent.

Since tea powder adds extra nitrogen, use this modified recipe especially during the vegetative growth phase of your plants. Qualtity of tea powder can be reduced to half or completely omit it when using at flowering / fruiting stage.

Apply every 2–3 weeks for best results.
